During the operation of explosion-proof fans, some emergency handling methods also need to be known
1. Motor overheating/smoking: Stop the machine immediately and cut off the power
(1) Cut off the main power supply (if there is an explosion-proof emergency stop button on site, press it first), and do not approach the fan (to prevent insulation damage and leakage).
(2) Check the cause (such as bearing jamming, winding short circuit, air inlet blockage). After the fan has completely cooled down (at least 30 minutes), have it disassembled and inspected by professionals. Do not restart it until the fault is eliminated.
2. In case of leakage of flammable medium: Ventilate first and then handle
If the concentration of flammable medium in the usage environment exceeds the standard (such as when the alarm goes off), the explosion-proof fan should be kept running (continue ventilation and dilution), and at the same time, the valve of the medium source should be closed.
In case of severe leakage, personnel on site should be evacuated and the emergency response plan should be activated (such as calling the fire department). After the concentration drops to a safe level, check whether the fan is functioning properly.
Iii. Impeller jamming/Abnormal noise: Stop the machine for inspection without disassembly
If the impeller is found to be stuck or making abnormal noises, immediately stop the machine and cut off the power. Check whether there are any foreign objects sucked into the air inlet (such as tools or debris).
If a foreign object is stuck in the impeller, the air intake duct should be removed first (operated by a professional). After removing the foreign object, manually rotate the impeller to confirm that it is flexible before restarting. Do not reach out or use tools to clean when the power is not off.
